Let's say I want to make half a circle. It draws a line from starting to the ending point. I'm using Photoshop, pencil.

Lol no clue then. Maybe reinstalling helps, or changing things in the setup of your tablet. What brand you got? Btw try restarting photoshop, sometimes photoshop is weird and doesn't use all the features it has. Sometimes I get no pen pressure, just restarting it helps. Good luck

I have this problem for over a month now. But when I have the Pressure window open it works just fine, it's strange.

So here's a Monk head (I know it's kinda big, but you have to start somewhere).

What should I do first to start coloring?

Infested requested that I put up some work-in-progress pics of Zerg's picture so that he can see how I did the colouring. My access to Photoshop is fairly limited since this laptop can't handle it, so I decided to do most of the work in Open Canvas version 1.

I scanned in the pencil lineart, duplicated it in Photoshop and then exported a jpg version into Open Canvas. Since that version of OC has layers on Multiply by default (no Normal layers at all) I had to keep the lineart in one layer and do all of the colouring on another separate layer.
First, I started on the background because I didn't want to have to be careful about colouring over the character. It also helped set the mood for the picture, and let me choose what colours work best with the character itself.

After the background was detailed enough, I started work on the characters. I filled them in with a base colour.

A closeup with some shading progress. I started with her face then worked my way down. I added a bunch of detail into the armor at this stage that the lineart didn't have. I find it easier to paint in the detail during this part of the process, rather than spending a long time working it into the lineart itself.

Aaaand that's all of the good screens I took before I finished. There were some other layer tricks that I ended up doing (such as darkening the background shadows by adding a new Multiply layer, and trying to get a glowy effect on the gloves with an Addition layer) but I didn't get a good screenshot of that. I'll probably do a better step-by-step tutorial of my drawing method in the future if people are still interested.

Wow Gwee that's awesome! *_*

Also Hydra, if someone wants to take my spot in coloring please let them. I might get very busy for a long time. I will still put it in my queue but I'll just do it for free if I ever get the chance ^_^

Oke, so here's what I got so far.

Trying to draw my cute Monky!

The face isn't the best. The rest looks pretty good for a first drawing in my oppinion.

Will have to do details and light effects later.

Very, very nice. I'm glad you got your tablet working! Can't wait to see what you do with the details and light effects.

When starting out, it's good to remember to use a lot of shadow, rather than too little. Most artists who are just starting out tend to be very careful with their shadows, only placing small ones here and there, leaving the drawing a bit flat. So don't be afraid to use large shadows, with lots of highlights too.
Also, remember to pick one single direction for the light to hit the character, and keep all of your shadows on the opposite side of that.

My Monk with detailed armor.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1274753812

Now for lighting stuff, I still don't really get on how much darker/lighter to do it..
And this color doesn't feel realistic enough comparing to others.

This stuff is stressful.
